BONE STRUCTURE

 The difference between the cortical bone and cancellous bone is manifested by histological evaluation of the tissue’s microstructure. The microstructure of cortical bone is made up of regular, cylindrically shaped lamellae, whilst cancellous bone is identified by irregular, sinuous convolutions of lamellae. Cancellous bone tissue is metabolically active and can be remodeled more frequently than that of cortical bone.
